Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Hartly, DE
Hartly, DE (October 5, 2026) – Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that happened Sunday morning on Arthursville Road west of Gunter Road.
According to Delaware State Police, a Ford Fusion was traveling eastbound at about 5:10 a.m. on October 4 when it failed to negotiate a slight curve, left the south side of the road, struck a tree and caught fire.
The driver, a 46-year-old man from Dover, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said his name is being withheld until his family is notified.
The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
Police said the investigation is continuing through the Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked to contact Master Corporal W.
