Georgetown, DE – One Killed, Four Hurt in Car Accident on Dupont Blvd.
**Georgetown, DE (August 28, 2023) –**One person was killed and multiple others were injured after a crash in Georgetown on Sunday, August 27th. The crash happened just before noon on Dupont Boulevard near West Robbins Road.
Authorities say that a 39-year-old Ellendale woman was driving a Mazda 3 southbound on Dupont Boulevard. At the same time, a 58-year-old man from Bangor, Pennsylvania, was driving a Nissan Murano northbound on Dupont. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Mazda left her lane and traveled into the northbound lanes. The Mazda crossed over a grass median and collided head-on with the Murano. An 18-year-old female front was a front-seat passenger in the Mazda. She died due to her injuries. A 4-year-old boy in the back seat of the Mazda was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the Nissan and his passenger were both taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No one involved in the crash was identified.
The road was closed for about four hours while police investigated the crash. There is no word on what caused the accident to occur. No further information has been released.
