Georgetown, DE (July 10, 2025) – One person was hurt in a crash involving a Jeep and a tractor-trailer early Thursday, July 10, near a construction zone.
According to Delaware State Police, the crash happened at around 7:00 a.m. on southbound Dupont Blvd near Ave of Honor. Investigators said a Jeep Renegade driven by a 25-year-old Milford man veered off its lane and struck the rear of a Mack truck and trailer, which was backing up in the shoulder area due to nearby construction.
Emergency crews transported the driver of the Jeep to a local hospital. Authorities described his injuries as not life-threatening. He was later cited for inattentive driving. The 36-year-old truck driver from Atlanta, Georgia, was not hurt in the crash.
Police closed southbound Dupont Blvd for a short period to investigate and remove the wreckage. The road was reopened to traffic later that morning. Delaware State Police are still reviewing the events that led to the crash.
We extend our sincere wishes for recovery to those injured in this incident.
Truck Accidents in Georgetown and Across Delaware
Large truck crashes in Delaware, especially in construction zones like the one near Dupont Blvd, often lead to serious injuries. While some drivers walk away with minor wounds, others can face lasting medical issues. These accidents can also cause emotional and financial stress.
Truck accidents are more complex than regular car crashes. Multiple parties may be responsible, including the truck driver, their employer, or even a construction company. Proving fault in these cases requires an in-depth investigation. That’s why working with a Delaware truck accident attorney can make a real difference.
Injured victims may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, missed work, and pain and suffering. A Wilmington personal injury lawyer can help victims file claims, negotiate with insurance companies, and, if necessary, take the case to court. Legal support can also help injured people focus on recovery while a lawyer handles the legal process.
Delaware law allows injured people to recover damages even if they are partly at fault, but acting quickly is key. Evidence like dashcam footage or construction zone records may be lost if not preserved early. An experienced truck accident attorney in Delaware can guide victims through every step and fight for fair results.
