Georgetown, DE (October 7, 2025) – Two men lost their lives and two others were injured following a three-vehicle crash in Georgetown on Sunday, October 5.
According to Delaware State Police, the collision occurred around 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of West Robbins Road and Redden Road. A Hyundai Sonata was stopped at a stop sign on West Robbins Rd when it entered the intersection and collided with a westbound Volkswagen Tiguan. The impact caused the Volkswagen to overturn and strike an eastbound Toyota Corolla.
Both occupants of the Toyota—a male driver and a passenger—were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released pending family notification. The driver of the Volkswagen, a 70-year-old man from Ocean View, and his 59-year-old passenger suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Hyundai driver, a 57-year-old woman from Bloomfield, New Jersey, was not injured.
Authorities closed the intersection for several hours while investigators from Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit examined the scene. Officials continue to investigate what led to the deadly crash.
We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the two deceased victims. We also hope for the rapid recovery of the injured individuals.
Car Accidents in Delaware
Car accidents remain one of the leading causes of serious injuries and fatalities across Delaware each year. According to the Delaware Office of Highway Safety, more than 28,000 traffic collisions were reported in the state in a recent year, resulting in thousands of injuries and hundreds of deaths.
Areas like Georgetown, Dover, and Wilmington experience heavy commuter and tourist traffic, increasing the risk of high-impact collisions similar to Sunday’s tragic crash.
Three-vehicle accidents like this often occur when a driver fails to yield or misjudges oncoming traffic. Intersection crashes can be particularly dangerous because of the multiple points of impact and the speed at which vehicles may be traveling. Even survivors of these incidents can suffer long-term effects such as broken bones, internal injuries, or traumatic brain injuries.
