Lincoln Man Killed, Two Hurt in Crash on Old Furnace Rd in Georgetown, DE

Georgetown, DE (June 19, 2026) – A Lincoln man died and two other drivers were hurt in a three-vehicle wreck Friday morning, June 19, on Old Furnace Road in Georgetown.

Delaware State Police said a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on Old Furnace Road west of Rementer Road around 7:20 a.m. when a Toyota Sienna followed by a Nissan Rogue approached from the opposite direction. The Chevrolet crossed over the center line and sideswiped the Toyota, then continued and struck the Nissan head-on.

The 52-year-old Chevrolet driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending family notification.

The Toyota’s driver, a 50-year-old Georgetown woman, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Nissan’s driver, a 33-year-old Seaford man, was flown by helicopter to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Old Furnace Road was closed for about four hours while troopers processed the scene.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the wreck.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Lincoln man’s family during this devastating loss, and we hope both surviving drivers recover fully.

I’ll quickly verify Delaware’s specific rules on damages before writing this, since it affects accuracy.

What Compensation Can Victims Recover After a Car Accident in Georgetown, DE?Lincoln Man Killed, Two Hurt in Crash on Old Furnace Rd in Georgetown, DE

Victims of a serious crash may be able to recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, and pain and suffering, depending on the extent of their injuries and how the crash occurred. Delaware follows a modified comparative negligence rule, which allows an injured person to recover damages from at-fault parties as long as their own share of fault is less than 50 percent.

People involved in a multi-vehicle, head-on style crash commonly face some of the most serious injuries seen on the road, including spinal injuries, internal bleeding, and traumatic brain injuries, particularly for those struck directly or thrown from a vehicle. Survivors may need extended hospitalization, surgery, and months of rehabilitation depending on the severity of their injuries.

A car accident lawyer can help families and survivors gather evidence such as the crash reconstruction report, witness statements, and vehicle data to help determine the full sequence of events, and help identify all forms of compensation that may apply under Delaware law.

If you or your family has been affected by a serious crash, Murphy & Landon is available to help answer your questions about what comes next. A crash involving multiple vehicles and serious injuries can leave a lot of uncertainty about what steps to take and who may be responsible.
