New Castle Co, DE – Fiery Multi-Car Crash Leaves Eight Injured on Christiana Rd

New Castle Co, DE (February 18, 2025) – A multi-car injury crash occurred on Monday, February 17, at approximately 7:57 p.m. near the Christiana Fashion Center, resulting in eight individuals injured, including three who were trapped inside a burning car. Emergency crews responded promptly to the scene, where multiple cars had collided on Christiana Road, with one engulfed in flames.

New Castle County Paramedics, along with the Christiana Fire Company, Minquas Fire Company of Newport, and Wilmington Manor Fire Company, arrived to find the fiery wreckage. They quickly worked to extinguish the flames and extricate the three individuals trapped inside the burning vehicle.

Among the injured was an 80-year-old woman suffering from lower extremity injuries, who was treated at the scene before being transported in serious condition to Christiana Hospital in Newark. A 78-year-old man, who experienced chest pain and potential internal injuries, was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Additionally, a 37-year-old woman sustained lower extremity injuries and was transported in stable condition.

In total, five other individuals were also transported to Christiana Hospital by ambulances from Christiana, Minquas, and Wilmington Manor Fire Companies.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the cause of the crash, which has left the community shaken. Emergency responders were on the scene for an extended period, ensuring the area was cleared, and traffic was managed as crews worked diligently to control the situation.
