Wilmington, DE (December 6, 2024) – A fatal pedestrian crash occurred on Thursday evening in Wilmington, claiming the life of a 58-year-old woman. The incident, reported by the Delaware State Police, took place at approximately 5:31 p.m. on Governor Printz Blvd near Downing Dr.
According to the Delaware State Police, a 2021 Tesla Model 3, driven by a 31-year-old man from Claymont, was traveling westbound on Governor Printz Blvd when a pedestrian, a woman from Wilmington, attempted to cross the roadway from the area of Downing Dr. The pedestrian entered the path of the Tesla, and the car hit her.
The victim was immediately transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of her family. The driver of the Tesla was not injured.
Emergency services, including paramedics and fire crews, responded to the scene. The fire department assisted in securing the vehicles and ensuring safety at the scene, while authorities managed the traffic flow and closed the roadway for approximately three hours as the investigation and clearance took place.
