According to officials, a 65-year-old woman was riding her motorcycle southbound on Route 1 when she was involved in a crash with another car. When police got to the scene, they found the woman lying on the road suffering from serious injuries due to the accident. The woman, whose name was not released, was transported to a nearby hospital where she was treated for serious injuries due to the accident. There were no other injuries reported. Police have not said how the crash took place.
Police closed the road for several hours while an investigation was conducted. Motorists were asked to avoid the scene and to find an alternate route of travel during that time.
