Lewes, DE (November 10, 2025) – A married couple from Maryland died in a multi-vehicle crash on Friday, November 7. The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. on Coastal Hwy near Hudson Rd. According to Delaware State Police, a Peterbilt dump truck did not slow down as traffic ahead came to a stop. The truck hit several vehicles in a chain reaction involving five cars.
Charlene Broccolo, 62, was driving a Ford Edge when the truck struck her vehicle from behind. Emergency crews rushed her to a nearby hospital. She later died from her injuries. Her husband, 64-year-old Albert “Al” Broccolo, was also in the Ford Edge. He died at the scene.
Other drivers involved in the crash were either treated for minor injuries or not hurt. These vehicles included a Nissan Altima, two BMWs, and the Peterbilt truck. Police are reviewing evidence and witness accounts to understand exactly what led to the crash.
