Fatal Car Accidents in Greenville
Delaware has seen a decline in traffic fatalities over the past few years, with the state recording 137 deaths in 2023, a 16% decrease from the previous year. Despite this positive trend, road safety remains a concern, as high-risk factors like impaired driving, speeding, and distracted driving continue to contribute significantly to fatal accidents. Pedestrian fatalities are also a growing issue, accounting for more than 13% of all traffic deaths, despite pedestrians being involved in less than 1% of statewide crashes.
In Delaware, wrongful death claims can be filed by surviving family members, such as spouses, children, or parents, within two years of the deceased’s death. These lawsuits seek compensation for funeral expenses, lost wages, and the emotional impact on the survivors. Delaware does not impose a cap on damages, allowing for compensation based on the case’s specifics.
