Rehoboth Beach, DE – One Injured in Crash at Rte 24 & Bay Farm Rd

Rehoboth Beach, DE (November 10, 2024) – An injury car crash occurred on Friday, November 8, at the intersection of Route 24 and Bay Farm Road in Rehoboth Beach, leaving one person injured. Emergency personnel from the Indian River Fire Company and other local responders were called to the scene shortly after 7:00 p.m. to assist with the aftermath.

Delaware State Police reported that the accident occurred when the driver of a Ford Explorer, a 24-year-old woman from Rehoboth Beach, attempted to make a left turn onto Bay Farm Road. As she turned, the Ford Explorer collided with a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction. The pickup truck, driven by a 24-year-old man from New York, was struck on the driver’s side.

Although neither of the drivers sustained injuries, a 68-year-old passenger in the pickup truck was injured in the collision and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. Emergency responders, including fire crews, worked quickly to secure the area, extricate the vehicles, and clear debris from the roadway.

The crash caused significant traffic delays as police temporarily shut down lanes in the area for several hours while conducting their investigation. Drivers were rerouted around the scene, and traffic flow was restored once the area was cleared.

Delaware State Police have charged the driver of the Ford Explorer, a Rehoboth Beach resident, with failure to yield the right of way and several other traffic violations, including improper turn and failure to exercise due care. No further details about the individuals involved in the crash have been released.

Our thoughts go out to the individuals affected by this incident, especially the injured passenger, and to the families involved.
