Dover, DE (October 18, 2023) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash that took place in Dover on Tuesday, October 17th. The accident happened just after 5:00 p.m. on Hazlettville Road near Apple Grove School Road.
According to a report from authorities, a Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling westbound on Hazlettvilel when the driver attempted to make a left turn into a private residence. As the truck turned, it traveled directly into the path of a black 2022 Kawasaki EX4 motorcycle that was operating eastbound on Hazlettville. The Dodge struck the front tire of the motorcycle, ejecting the rider from the bike. The motorcyclist then came to rest in the westbound lane.
The rider, an 18-year-old man from Dover, died at the accident scene. His identity has not been released at this time. The driver of the truck, a 57-year-old Dover man, was not hurt in the collision. The road was closed for about four hours while police investigated the accident. At this time, there is no word on whether any charges are expected to be filed.
The accident remains under investigation. No further information is available.
