Police say that a Mazda was traveling on Dupont Boulevard when the 39-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle. The car traveled across a grassy median and collided head-on with a second vehicle. The front-seat passenger, 18-year-old Gricelda Ramirez-Chilel, died as a result of the crash. The 39-year-old driver and a 4-year-old back-seat passenger were taken to the hospital with injuries. The two occupants of the other vehicle were also transported with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials have not identified anyone else involved in the accident. Authorities have not said what caused the crash to occur at this time. The accident remains under investigation. There is no word on whether any charges are expected to be filed.
