Wilmington, NC (September 6, 2022) – The Delaware State Police responded to the scene of a deadly motorcycle crash on Monday, September 5th. The accident was reported just after 2:00 p.m. on Route 7 at Old Lindel Hill Road.
According to a report from authorities, a black 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on Route 7. At the same time, a blue 2018 Honda CRV was traveling southbound on the same road. The Honda attempted to make a U-turn and went into the southbound lanes, colliding with the motorcycle. The Honda struck the mirror of the motorcycle, causing the bike to hit a curb. The rider was ejected in the collision.
The motorcyclist identified only as a 29-year-old male, died at the accident scene. Troopers are in the process of notifying his next of kin. The 71-year-old Honda driver and his passenger were not hurt in the accident. The road was closed for nearly three hours while the accident was investigated. It is unclear if any charges will be filed.
