Newark, DE (July 19, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash killed a 17-year-old boy and injured a woman on Stanton Christiana Road in Newark on Saturday, July 18. The collision occurred around 10:45 p.m.
As reported by the authorities, the teen drove a Toyota Camry southwest on Stanton Christiana Road as he approached Old Stanton Christiana Road and rounded a curve. At the same time, a 46-year-old Middletown woman drove a Toyota Sienna northeast in the center lane. The Camry lost control, crossed into the Sienna’s path, and struck the front of the minivan with its passenger side.
Emergency units assisted both drivers and took them to nearby hospitals. The teen, who was alone in the Camry, later died from his injuries. The Sienna driver received care for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Officials have not released the teen’s name while they notify his family. Crews kept Stanton Christiana Road closed for about three hours while they cleared the roadway.
The Delaware State Police continue to determine what caused the accident.
Our hearts go out to the teen’s family and loved ones during this painful time. We also wish the injured woman a full and swift recovery.
When Should You Seek Medical Care After a Car Accident in Newark, DE?

In the hours afterward, adrenaline can temporarily dull pain and make an injury harder to notice. Headaches, dizziness, stiffness, swelling, or increasing discomfort may signal that you need prompt medical attention.
After your first appointment, medical notes, test results, and treatment recommendations become part of your health record. This documentation can show when symptoms began, what care you received, and how the injuries changed your daily life.
During the insurance process, adjusters often examine the gap between the collision and your first medical visit. A long delay may lead an insurer to question when the injury occurred or whether the claimed treatment was necessary.
Medical bills can add up quickly, especially when injuries require follow-up appointments or time away from work. A car accident attorney can organize your records, communicate with the insurer, and explain the legal choices that may fit your circumstances.
