Two Hurt After Wreck on Old Furnace Rd in Georgetown, DE

Georgetown, DE (June 20, 2026) – A serious crash hurt two people on Friday evening, June 19, on Old Furnace Road in Georgetown. The accident was reported around 7:43 p.m. near 12809 Old Furnace Road.

Emergency units arrived and found one person in critical condition and another with serious injuries. Early reports mentioned possible entrapment, but crews later confirmed that no one was trapped.

A medical helicopter was used after the collision. One patient was flown to Christiana Hospital around 8:36 p.m. for advanced medical care.

Reports also noted a second non-injury crash nearby, and drivers were told to expect traffic redirection for an extended period. The names and ages of the people involved were not released in the initial report.

The Delaware State Police continue to examine what led to the roadway collision.

We hope those hurt receive proper treatment and make steady progress in recovery.

How Medical Records Help After a Crash in Georgetown, DE

Two Hurt After Wreck on Old Furnace RdIf you were hurt in a crash in Georgetown, medical records can help show what doctors found, when treatment began, and what care may be needed later. They can also connect pain, testing, follow-up visits, and recovery needs to the same accident.

Once you see a doctor, the record can show how your injuries develop over time. Pain, dizziness, swelling, or limited movement may not seem serious right away. Clear medical notes can help explain those changes if questions come up later.

During recovery, hospital records, imaging results, prescriptions, and therapy notes may all matter. Each record can show how the injury affected work, school, driving, or daily routines. That information may become useful during insurance discussions.

Around Georgetown, serious crashes can involve local drivers and people traveling through Sussex County. U.S. Route 113 and U.S. Route 9 connect the area with nearby towns, jobs, schools, and medical providers. Those routes can make injury claims more detailed.

Before you speak with an insurance company, it helps to keep every medical document in one place. Discharge papers, bills, referrals, prescriptions, and follow-up instructions can all matter. Organized records can make the process easier to follow.

If the paperwork becomes difficult to manage, a car accident lawyer can review the documents and explain how they may fit into a possible injury claim. Legal guidance can also help organize insurance letters, missed income records, and treatment-related costs.

At Murphy & Landon, we help people across Delaware understand what may come next after a serious injury case. Our team reviews available records, explains the process in plain language, and helps you prepare for insurance-related questions.
