Georgetown, DE (March 20, 2026) – On Thursday morning, March 19, around 8:05 a.m., emergency crews responded to a serious crash on Sussex Highway near Airport Road that left a Georgetown woman and two children injured. One child suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to a trauma center.
The Delaware State Police say an Audi SQ7, driven by a 38-year-old man, was traveling southbound when it left its lane and entered the center median. The vehicle struck a Hyundai Accent attempting to cross the highway from a crossover. The impact hit the passenger side of the Hyundai, where the children were seated.
Emergency responders transported a 26-year-old woman and a 3-year-old child to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 8-year-old child sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a trauma center.
The crash remains under investigation as officials continue to secure the area and gather additional details. Traffic in the area may have been delayed while emergency personnel responded.
We hope all those involved make a full and swift recovery.
