Newark, DE (January 19, 2026) – A three-vehicle crash on eastbound Pulaski Highway in Newark left one person dead and another injured on Friday, January 16, according to law enforcement authorities. Emergency units responded to the scene at approximately 5:30 p.m. after reports of a multi-car crash.
Investigators confirmed a Hyundai Kona struck the rear of a stopped Kia Sportage in the left lane, near David Place. The impact pushed the Kia into a Subaru Outback ahead of it. The driver of the Hyundai, an 85-year-old man from New Castle, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died on Saturday, January 17.
The Hyundai passenger, an 83-year-old woman from Newark, was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. No injuries were reported among the occupants of the Kia or Subaru.
Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
