Three Hospitalized After Crash with Entrapment on Rt 24 in Millsboro, DE

Millsboro, DE (August 11, 2026) – Three people went to hospitals on Sunday night, August 9, following a serious collision with vehicle entrapment near Route 24 and Holly Lake Rd.

Fire crews and rescue personnel confirmed that two occupants were pinned inside the wreckage upon arrival. Emergency medical crews transported two patients by ground ambulances, while Delaware State Police Aviation Trooper 2 airlifted a third patient to a regional medical facility for treatment.

Local authorities are continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the wreck.

Our thoughts are with everyone injured in this crash as they work toward recovery.

Who Pays for Emergency Helicopter Transport and Hospital Bills After a Serious Crash in Millsboro, DE?

Emergency medical transportation, trauma care, and hospital bills following a severe collision may initially be processed through Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage under Delaware auto insurance rules.

Once PIP limits are reached, remaining medical balances may be submitted to private health insurance or pursued through the at-fault driver’s bodily injury liability coverage, depending on the circumstances and applicable policies.

Because serious injuries can require extensive care, understanding how these sources of coverage may work together can become important soon after a crash.

Severe impacts may require specialized emergency extrication or air ambulance transport, and medical helicopter flights, emergency treatment, surgery, and hospital stays can quickly generate substantial expenses. Keeping medical bills, insurance statements, and treatment records can help document the costs as care continues.

As medical treatment progresses, injured victims may also face rehabilitation expenses, prescription costs, transportation to appointments, and time away from work.

A personal injury claim against the responsible driver may allow an injured person to seek reimbursement for certain out-of-pocket medical expenses and other losses that may not be covered by insurance. The available recovery can depend on liability, insurance limits, and the nature of the losses.

To evaluate those issues, a car accident lawyer can review applicable policies, medical records, bills, and other documentation. Legal counsel may also help investigate the crash, obtain relevant reports and vehicle data, communicate with insurance companies, and address disputes concerning medical payments or potential liens.
