Woman Critically Hurt in Crash on Christina Pkwy

Newark, DE (June 2, 2026) – A collision involving a crossover vehicle and a tractor-trailer left a 27-year-old woman critically injured on Monday morning, June 1, in Newark. The wreck occurred at the intersection of Christina Parkway and Science Boulevard.

Emergency units responded at approximately 6:56 a.m. after reports of a trapped occupant. Responders freed the woman from the crossover after nearly 15 minutes. She suffered internal and extremity injuries, received treatment at the scene, and was transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in critical condition.

The crash also injured the tractor-trailer driver, identified as a 42-year-old man. Emergency units treated him for extremity injuries before taking him to Christiana Hospital, where he remained in stable condition.

The City of Newark Police Department continues to investigate the collision.

We hope both injured people make a full and steady recovery.

How Truck Accident Claims Work in Newark, DE

Woman Critically Hurt in Crash on Christina PkwyA truck accident claim in Newark often involves more parties than a regular car crash. In many cases, the trucking company, driver, cargo loader, or maintenance provider may share responsibility. Federal trucking regulations can also complicate the claims process.

Once a claim moves forward, driver logs, maintenance reports, inspection records, and hiring history often become important evidence. These records may show whether safety regulations were followed before the crash. They can also help determine responsibility.

Along Interstate 95, Route 896, and Route 273, Newark sees steady commercial truck traffic throughout the day. Tractor-trailers regularly travel these roads alongside commuters and passenger vehicles. Heavy traffic can increase the risk of severe crashes during busy travel hours.

Because commercial trucking policies carry higher insurance limits, these claims often move differently from standard car accident cases. Trucking companies may quickly assign adjusters and legal teams after serious collisions. Early preparation can affect how a claim develops.

If you needed emergency medical treatment after a truck collision, keeping your records organized may help support your claim. Hospital bills, follow-up visits, and physician notes can document your recovery. These records may also show how the injuries affected daily life.

In Delaware, injured victims generally have two years from the crash date to file a personal injury lawsuit. Missing the filing deadline may prevent you from recovering compensation. Starting early also gives your truck accident attorney more time to gather evidence.

When a trucking company already has lawyers and insurance representatives protecting its interests, preparation becomes important. A lawyer familiar with federal trucking regulations and Delaware injury law can help you understand the claim process and protect your rights.

Our team at Murphy & Landon has helped people across Delaware handle claims involving commercial trucks and serious collisions. We can review the details surrounding your crash and explain what legal options may apply.
