New Castle, DE – Four Injured in Crash with Entrapment at Rt 40

New Castle, DE (April 6, 2026) – On Sunday, April 5, emergency crews responded to a serious crash with reported entrapment at the intersection of Eden Circle and Route 40 in the Bear area.

First responders, including Christiana Fire Company and EMS units, arrived to find multiple people trapped inside the vehicles. Crews worked to extricate the occupants, and authorities later confirmed that extrication efforts were completed.

A total of four patients were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.

We hope that all those involved make a full recovery.

What Insurance Issues Can Arise After a Multi-Patient Car Accident in Delaware?

Accidents involving multiple injured individuals can quickly become complicated when it comes to insurance. With several people involved, multiple claims may be filed under one or more policies, which can affect how coverage is applied and how quickly claims are processed.

In Delaware, fault plays a role in determining responsibility for damages. Insurance companies typically review police reports, statements, and evidence from the scene to understand how the crash occurred. When more than one driver may share responsibility, claims can take longer to sort out, especially if there are conflicting accounts of what happened.

Medical expenses, vehicle damage, and other losses may be handled through different parts of an insurance policy. In some cases, policy limits can become a concern if there are several injured parties, which may impact how compensation is distributed among those affected.

You may also be contacted by multiple insurance representatives, including those from other drivers’ policies. Keeping track of who you speak with, what information is shared, and any documents received can help prevent confusion as the process moves forward. It’s also important to be cautious when giving recorded statements, particularly if you are still receiving treatment or don’t yet know the full extent of your injuries.

Delays are not uncommon in these situations. Insurance companies may wait for medical updates, repair estimates, and official reports before making decisions. Staying organized with medical records, bills, repair costs, and time missed from work can help you stay on top of the process.

If injuries require ongoing care, such as physical therapy or specialist visits, documenting those treatments becomes even more important. These details can play a role in how claims are evaluated over time.

It can also help to keep a simple timeline of events, including when the accident happened, when treatment began, and any key updates from doctors or insurers. Having everything in one place can make it easier to respond to questions and avoid inconsistencies. While the process may feel slow at times, staying patient and organized can help you move through it with fewer setbacks.

If you’ve been involved in a serious crash, having the right support can make a difference. A  car accident lawyer can help manage communication with insurance companies, organize your documentation, and guide you through the process so you can focus on your recovery.
