What Evidence Should I Collect After a Pedestrian Crash?Pedestrian Crash Reported on 304 N Dupont Blvd Near Royal Farms

If you were injured in a pedestrian crash in Smyrna or elsewhere in Kent County, gathering evidence as soon as possible can help protect your rights. If you are physically able, take photographs of the scene, including the vehicle involved, road conditions, traffic signals, crosswalk markings, and any visible injuries. These details can help establish how the collision occurred and whether traffic laws were followed at the time of the incident.

It is important to obtain the driver’s name, contact information, insurance details, and vehicle registration. If there were witnesses, ask for their names and phone numbers, as their statements may support your version of events. Requesting a copy of the official police report once it becomes available is also essential, as it provides an objective account of the crash and may include diagrams or officer observations.

Seek medical attention promptly and keep records of all treatment, diagnoses, and expenses. Medical documentation can directly connect your injuries to the accident. Preserving clothing, footwear, or personal items damaged in the crash may also serve as helpful evidence. In addition, keeping a written record of your symptoms, pain levels, and how the injury affects your daily activities can strengthen a potential claim.

Collecting thorough documentation early can make a significant difference when filing an insurance claim or pursuing compensation after a pedestrian accident in Delaware. Acting quickly helps preserve important evidence and supports a clearer understanding of liability and damages.

Pedestrian accidents can leave victims facing serious injuries, unexpected medical expenses, and uncertainty about what steps to take next. Understanding your rights under Delaware law and acting quickly to protect evidence can make an important difference in your recovery and any potential compensation claim. Speaking with a personal injury accident lawyer can provide clarity about liability, insurance coverage, and the steps involved in pursuing financial recovery after a crash.
