Georgetown, DE (November 5, 2025) – A fire police officer suffered critical injuries after a pedestrian accident on Monday, November 3. The crash took place on Lewes-Georgetown Hwy near Shingle Point Rd while first responders were assisting at an earlier collision scene.
According to officials, the incident occurred around 8:36 p.m. Emergency crews from the Georgetown Fire Company were directing traffic at the scene of the earlier crash. A 78-year-old Fire Police Officer from Georgetown was standing in the eastbound lane near his marked vehicle. Emergency responders quickly called for air support. Delaware State Police Aviation Trooper 2 flew the injured officer to Christiana Hospital. The driver of the Honda was not hurt. Troopers interviewed witnesses at the scene.
