
Glasgow, DE (January 23, 2025) – A fatal crash occurred on Tuesday night in Glasgow, Delaware, claiming the life of 51-year-old David Funk from Centreville, Maryland. The incident, reported by the Delaware State Police, took place at approximately 10:39 p.m. at the intersection of DE-896 southbound and Pulaski Hwy.
According to the Delaware State Police, a 2019 Dodge Ram was traveling southbound in the center lane of DE-896, approaching the intersection with Pulaski Hwy. At the same time, a 2004 Chevrolet Express van, driven by 28-year-old Fidel Villatoro-Martinez of Newark, Delaware, was traveling westbound on Pulaski Hwy, approaching the same intersection. Preliminary investigation revealed that the Dodge entered the intersection on a green light, while the Chevrolet ran a red light, striking the Dodge in the intersection.
David Funk, the driver of the Dodge, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. His family has been notified. A 16-year-old male passenger in the Dodge was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Fidel Villatoro-Martinez was also transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The accident caused significant traffic disruption, and the roadway was closed for approximately 2.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared. The Delaware State Police, along with emergency medical teams and fire crews, responded to the scene and assisted with the rescue and extraction efforts.
