Newark, DE (January 22, 2025) – An injury car crash occurred late Tuesday night at the intersection of Route 896 and Route 40, involving two cars and leaving three individuals injured, two of them in critical condition. The collision, reported by New Castle County emergency responders, happened around 10:35 p.m. when a commercial van and a pickup truck collided, with one of the vehicles trapping its occupants inside.
New Castle County Paramedics, along with the Christiana Fire Company and the Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company, quickly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a 16-year-old male in stable condition. The Christiana Fire Company Basic Life Support (BLS) unit treated him and transported him to a local hospital.
In addition to the 16-year-old, two other individuals sustained critical injuries. A 50-year-old male suffered serious abdominal and chest injuries, as well as possible internal injuries. He was transported in critical condition by New Castle County Paramedics aboard a Christiana Fire Company ambulance. A 33-year-old male also suffered critical injuries, including extremity and chest injuries, and was transported in another ambulance in serious condition.
