Wilmington, DE (June 22, 2024) – The Delaware State Police responded to the scene of a fatal two-vehicle crash in Wilmington. The incident took place on Thursday, June 20th around 2:20 p.m.
According to a report from the scene, a grey 2009 Audi was traveling westbound on Newport Pike when the driver tried to make a right turn into a private lot. As the Audi turned, it struck a 4-stroke mini gas-powered bike that was traveling along the shoulder of Newport Pike. The bike rider was ejected following the collision. Paramedics arrived and treated the victim, identified as a 22-year-old man from Wilmington before he was transported to Christiana Hospital. The man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. There were no additional injuries reported. Police closed the road for about two hours while they investigated the accident and cleared the scene. An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Delaware State Police. No further details are available.
