Wilmington, DE (March 5, 2023) – Authorities in Wilmington responded to the scene of a fatal accident on Saturday, March 4th. The crash occurred just before 10:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95, south of the service plaza.
According to officials, a 2014 white Dodge Journey, driven by a 24-year-old man, was traveling northbound on I-95. For unknown reasons, the Dodge left the roadway and traveled onto the shoulder before it overturned. There were three occupants of the Dodge at the time of the collision, all three residents of Wilmington.
A 30-year-old female passenger in the Journey suffered critical injuries in the crash. She died at the crash scene. Another passenger, a 23-year-old female, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There is no word on whether the driver of the vehicle was injured.
Police are still investigating the collision at this time. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
