Christiana, DE (November 28, 2022) – Troopers with the Delaware State Police responded to the scene of a car accident with injuries on Monday, November 28th. The crash took place just before 8:00 a.m. on the Roth Bridge in the southbound lanes of Route 1.
According to a report, a man was driving a truck that was pulling a trailer when the trailer became loose. The driver pulled onto the shoulder in order to secure the trailer. As the truck was on the shoulder, a transit van was traveling southbound in the right lane. The van drifted onto the shoulder and struck the driver of the truck, who was standing outside of his vehicle at the time. The van then overturned after the collision. The 43-year-old driver of the pickup was taken to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the van was treated for minor injuries.
Troopers charged the van driver with inattentive driving following an investigation. No additional information has been released.
