Wilton, DE (September 21, 2022) – A man from Newark was killed in a crash with a tractor-trailer in Wilton on Wednesday, September 21st. The accident happened along Route 40.
According to a report from the Delaware State Police, the 28-year-old man was traveling eastbound on Route 40 when he collided with the back of a parked truck. The truck, which was unoccupied, was parked illegally on the shoulder without hazard markers. The car overturned following the accident and came to rest in a tree line. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
After an investigation, troopers charged the driver of the truck with leaving his vehicle unattended without hazard markers. Traffic was backed up for about four hours while an investigation was conducted. Motorists were asked to avoid the area and to find alternate routes of travel if possible.
